LIVE Protection Testing Online Series Focused on Protection Testing Topics Hosted by OMICRON

OMICRON hosts its live Protection Testing Online Series between February 16 – April 20, 2023. Each two-hour session focuses on a current protection testing topic and will provide background application information, instruction on using the relevant tools, and a live demonstration of the content. Each session in the series is $49. Save $49 by registering for all five sessions for $196; register before February 16, 2023.

Meet this Year’s Instructors:
 
Alex Auman, OMICRON Instructor
In 2015, Alex graduated with an Associate in Applied Science in the Electric Utility Substation and Relay Technology program from Richmond Community College in Hamlet, North Carolina. After graduating, he spent seven years with Schweitzer Engineering Labs (SEL) as a commissioning technician, testing both new and existing installations. This included performing demolition, installation, control circuit testing, relay testing, commissioning, startup, energization, and troubleshooting. He has extensive experience testing protective relays for generators, transmission, distribution, transformer, motor, and bus applications.

Andre Souza, OMICRON Instructor
Andre Souza joined OMICRON in 2021 as an Application Engineer after an extensive career in the consulting business supporting P&C projects throughout North and Latin America. Based in Calgary, AB, Canada, he supports the North American Region through customer support, demonstrations, and a focus on trainings with power system protection, automation, and control and system testing. He holds B.Sc and M.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Rio de Janeiro Federal University and Professional Engineer designations in Canada and USA.

Ryan Elo, OMICRON Instructor  
Ryan Elo graduated from Texas A&M University in December of 2020 with a degree in electrical engineering. He interned at OMICRON in the summer of 2020 and started as an application engineer when he graduated. Over the past year, he has focused on recloser testing with the ARCO and distribution automation schemes.

Steel McCreery, OMICRON Instructor
Steel McCreery has thirty-five years of application experience in data communication, automation, and cyber security. In 1983 after graduating from Humber College of Applied Arts and Science, Steel began his career in factory automation while employed at various automation equipment manufacturers such as Reliance Electric, Modicon, GE Fanuc, Omron, and Siemens. Steel joined GE Multilin in 1999, holding various technical roles before accepting an automation role at SEL in 2012 focused on SEL’s utility communications and cyber security products. Steel has recently joined Omicron, where his role is focused on utility communications and cyber security.
