Rigorous equipment testing and regular maintenance are vital if the flawless condition of protection systems and their reliable operation are to be guaranteed. This is frequently not easy to achieve in practice, as it requires a sophisticated, structured system that facilitates fast access to the relevant test documentation.
To date, Energinet.dk has managed its protective devices in a folder hierarchy on a drive on the company's network that can be accessed by all its employees. However, the drawbacks of this structure, particularly with regard to the distribution of tasks and quality assurance, quickly became apparent.
